Its
construction begins on January 23, 1887 with the engineer Gustave
Eiffel. The assembly of the 15 000 metal parts finished in Mars
1889 and symbolized the World's Fair which took place in the Champs
de Mars. With its
310 meters top and 7 000 tons, the Eiffel
Tower was the world's tallest building until 1930.
Raised
over command of Napoleon Ier, the Arch
of Triumph dominates the Avenue of the Champs-Elysées.
Its construction began in 1806 and ended in 1836, 15
years after the Napoleon's death.
It's one of the most beautifull panorama of Paris.
With
its panoramic view from the 56th and 59th floors, the Tower
Montparnasse is a classic 20th century monument: 209 meters high.
The best way to see the city's monuments is from the panoramic, open
air terrace with views of Paris and the horizon 40 km
away.
In
1670, Louis XIV - the Sun King - founded
The Invalides: An old soldiers home that became a complex
providing quarters for 4,000 persons.
On 3 April 1861 Napoléon I came to his final rest in the crypt
under the golden cupola.
The
Concorde Square
is the most beautiful place of Paris . With a surface of 84.000
square meters , the place offers a superb sight of the avenue of the Champs-Elysées
in all its length and the Arch of Triumph, on a side, the Louvre
and Gardens of Tuileries , on the other side.
The
King Louis XIV decided the imposing plan of the Place, in 1685.
He bought back his hotel to the duke of Vendôme - from where
the name of the Place: Vendome
Square.
The
official decision to build the Musée
d'Orsay was taken in 1977 and it has been opened to the public
in December 1986 in order to show the artistic creation of the
western world from 1848 to 1914.
The
Louvre Museum is one
of the world's largest and best-known museums of fine art. From
a castle in 1190 to his completion in 1870, the palace
of the Louvre gradually extended on right bank from Seine.
The
Notre-Dame Cathedral,
on the Île de la Cité, an island in the Seine River that is
the original birthplace of Paris. The cathedral is almost nine hundred
years old.A little less 200 years were necessary to build
the " cathedral of the Cathedrals ".
In
1608, Henri IV decided the construction of a vast place, in
the residential Marais district. In 1612 Henri IV inaugurated the very new
place that named Place Royale. It will be baptized
Place des Vosges in 1800, in honour of the region which
was the first to pay a contribution.
The
neo-classic church of
Sainte Marie Madeleine is in the north of the Concorde
Square at the end of the Royal street. Built in the style of
the Greeks Temples, it was devoted in 1842 after almost
a century radical modifications and delays of construction.
The
Montmartre Hill
dominate any Paris top of its 130 meters and get its name of the Mount
of the Martyrs. A convent of nones installed on the hillock
in XII century and became the seat of a powerful abbey near the Basilica
of Sacred Heart.
Built
between 1862-1875, its architect was Charles Garnier, the Opera
Garnier is a
large building, it has a total area of 11 000 square metres
and a vast stage with room for up to 450 artists and only 2 200
seats.
